R&d technician biochemistry
The challengeAs Senior Technician Biochemistry you will join a company developing the industry standards for specialty biotechnological solutions. You will play an important role in the development of enzyme assays for various industrial applications, especially enzymes for food applications (brewing, dairy, savoury, and bakery), white biotechnology and contract manufacturing processes. In your role as technician, you will be responsible for: – The development of new enzyme assays or optimization of existing assays. – Troubleshooting with respect to various problems with enzymes or assays. – Assisting Scientists by performing several (existing) analytical assays including purification and characterization of protein using HPLC and other chromatographic techniques. – Further development of the Applied Biochemistry department by taking up responsibilities in one of the existing year plan groups. The companyThe DSM Biotechnology Center (DBC) in Delft is the primary location for biotechnological Research and Development for the innovation-driven company DSM. DBC develops new and improved products for DSM, in particular for the Business Units DSM Food Specialties, DSM Anti-Infectives, DSM Nutritional Products and for the Emerging Business Areas Bio-based Products & Services and Specialty Packaging. DSM Food Specialties is an important client of DBC. This Business Unit develops and produces ingredients and processing aids for food, mainly for the Baking, Dairy, Savoury, and Beverage markets. An important part of the development process is directly related to the behaviour of ingredients in food products, and this part of the work is located in the Food Innovation Center. The Food Innovation Center is a state-of-the-art unit that harbours food production facilities, such as a bakery, a cheese plant, and a kitchen, but also fully equipped biochemistry and analytical labs and facilities for sensory testing. The idealWe are looking for a professional with a Bachelor or academic education, preferably with a few years of experience in applied biochemical research. It is an absolute must to have worked with enzymes before. You have good communication and planning skills.
